Applicants should submit their applications with the following information:
Names and details of both parties signing agreement.
Details of the publication being discussed, along with the author, title, ISBN, rights holder, the language of the publication and the language it will be translated into.
Please note that the Form is an intention to start a translation rights deal. It is not a binding contract at this stage. This is to protect both parties should there be any changes, and to avoid liability .
Each party keeps a copy of the application, and SIBF keeps a copy.
Parties have up to 3 months after the Fair to submit an application. Please note that the deadline for all forms to be submitted is 26 February 2019.
There will be a sample of the Grant Transfer Fund sheet that should be completed. Please take the opportunity to complete and fill it out correctly as mistakes can cause payment delay.
The form should be completed in either Arabic or English.
All fields must be completed. Failure to submit a completed form can result in an application being excluded.
Terms and Conditions
Please read and clarify all Terms and Conditions before submitting your form, and please note that Terms and Conditions are not subject to any exceptions.
Applicants will be considered and reviewed by the SIBF management.
SIBF reserve the right to declare an application as unsuccessful at their own discretion.
Only those who attended the SIBF professional programme from 29th and 30th of October 2018, 9:00 – 17:30, can be considered as applicants.
If a Grant recipient fails to meet the required deadlines for translation, they must repay any money received to SIBF under the Grant.
The 10 copies sent to SIBF will become property of SIBF for promotional use on their website, their stands at International Book Fairs, PR activities in the media and for use at the Sharjah Public Library.
Each published book must contain the SIBF logo on the Title page of the translated work. The following must appear on the back cover of the publication: “This publication has been translated with the assistance of the Sharjah International Book Fair’s Turjuman Translation Grant Fund”. The design must also be initially approved by the SIBF.
A series will be considered as one publication.
The Grant must be used to pay the translator of the text for their translation only and for no other purpose.
